If you’ve ever walked along Jonker Street on a hot afternoon, you’ll know how intense Melaka’s heat can be. That was exactly my situation when I stumbled into The Daily Fix Café sweaty, thirsty, and desperately needing both shade and caffeine. And honestly? This cozy Peranakan-style café was exactly what I needed.
The Daily Fix isn’t right by the street. You actually walk through a souvenir shop first before entering the café space behind it, kind of like discovering a hidden spot. Once inside, the vibe hits instantly: classic old Melaka shophouse charm, vintage touches, and that unmistakable Peranakan–Baba Nyonya atmosphere.
Even though it was packed (I waited about 15 minutes for a table), the place felt warm and welcoming, almost like stepping into someone’s nostalgic family home.
Interior & Ambience — Classic Melaka Charm 🍃
The interior brings the perfect mix of old and new. The building feels very traditional Peranakan, with patterned tiles, wooden furniture, and nostalgic décor.
There’s also a semi-open section inside, still cool and breezy which adds to the charm of the place. Despite being a bit narrow (old Melaka houses usually are), everything felt neat, clean, and thoughtfully arranged.
I got a shared table, which is pretty normal here due to the crowd, but the atmosphere still felt comfortable and chill.

What I Ordered And Why I Loved It
1. Peanut Butter Chocolate Pancake

I originally wasn’t planning to order this, but when the table next to me received theirs a big, fluffy pancake stacked with toppings and a thick scoop of ice cream I couldn’t resist. The pancake was incredibly soft and warm, and the peanut butter, chocolate, and granola (served neatly on the side) made every bite rich and satisfying without being overly sweet. The portion is big enough for two people, and considering how generous they are with the toppings, it’s absolutely worth the price. A perfect dessert to share, and honestly one of the highlights of my visit.
2. Ondeh-Ondeh Cake

This slice was a lovely surprise instead of a typical ondeh-ondeh style, it leaned more toward a dadar gulung concept, and it worked beautifully. The pandan aroma was fragrant and comforting, balanced with sweet gula Melaka and the savory touch of grated coconut. The portion is a medium-sized slice, enough for one or two people to share. It pairs amazingly well with coffee, and for the taste and quality, it’s definitely worth ordering if you want something classic yet nostalgic.
3. Americano & Cappuccino
These were my usual go-to drinks whenever I visit a café, and they didn’t disappoint here. The americano was bold and refreshing, while the cappuccino was smooth and comforting both perfect companions to the sweet treats and a much-needed cool-down from the Melaka heat.
Service Experience 💬

Even though it was super busy, the staff were consistently friendly, quick to respond, and helpful. Food took slightly longer than usual, understandable given the weekend crowd but everything arrived fresh, warm, and nicely presented.
Cleanliness? Despite the limited space, the café keeps everything tidy. Tables turned over fast, no sticky surfaces, and the semi-open areas were well maintained.
