Every time I walked past Beach Road Prawn Noodle House along East Coast Road, I couldn’t help but stare. It was always packed. Morning, noon it didn’t matter, the crowd never stopped. I kept wondering, “What’s the hype all about?”
So one day, I finally joined the queue. But guess what, Buf? It wasn’t stressful at all. The line was super orderly, and there was this friendly uncle helping people find seats like a food court angel. Even better, the entire place was breezy thanks to big fans, so you can queue and eat without breaking a sweat.
Instantly, I knew this wasn’t just lunch. This was an experience.
A Century of Flavor in Every Bowl
This isn’t your average noodle stall, Buf. Beach Road Prawn Noodle House has been around for over 90 years, passed down through four generations. From humble beginnings with a pushcart to becoming one of East Coast’s most beloved hawker legends their recipe stands the test of time.
You’re not just slurping noodles. You’re tasting history.

Prawn Noodles — Soup or Dry? You Decide

The star of the show is definitely the prawn noodles, and you get to choose your style: soup or dry with 3 size portions, small, medium, and large, plus your preferred noodle type rice noodles, egg noodles, bee hoon, you name it.
East Coast Ngoh Hiang — The Ultimate Sidekick

Right next to the prawn noodle stall, you’ll find the East Coast Ngoh Hiang. Don’t skip it. There are about 19 options to choose from, and trust me they’re all dangerously good.
Here’s what I picked and totally recommend:
- Ngoh Hiang – crispy outside, juicy meat inside
- Fish Cake – springy, bouncy, flavorful
- Prawn Roll & Prawn Fritter – golden, crunchy, and so satisfying.
They go perfectly with your noodles and come with chili and sweet dipping sauces that’ll blow your taste buds away.
What I Ordered & Loved
Alright Buf, here’s what landed on my tray:
1. Medium Dry Prawn Mee
Tossed with fragrant shallot oil and chili, topped with sliced pork and fresh prawns. So flavourful, I could eat it all day. The soup on the side? Clear, briny, and packed with depth and yes, I got it refilled!

2. Ngoh Hiang & Fried Goodies
My personal must haves: Fish Cake, Ngoh Hiang, Prawn Fritter, Prawn Roll
Everything was fried perfectly crisp without being oily, and full of texture and flavor. Absolute 10/10 combo with the noodles.
Service was fast, staff were kind, and the whole vibe was warm and welcoming. And you bet, I’ll be coming back again. If you love comfort food done right this place is it, Buf.
