A Day at Best Ah Ma Café – From First Sip to Last Bite

I walked into Best Ah Ma Café not really knowing what to expect, but already feeling excited when I saw the menu — a mix of familiar comfort food and a few new things I hadn’t tried yet. Sitting down, I decided to go all in and ordered a little bit of everything: a cold kopi or ais Best Ah Ma Kopi, the Smoked Chicken Dry Ramen, and of course, a proper Nasi Lemak with Asam Prawn.

1. Smoked Chicken Dry Ramen

Noodles topped with an onsen egg, crispy shallots, and bonito flakes that danced lightly as the bowl landed on the table. I broke the egg and mixed it all in, and the texture just came together creamy, smoky, savory, with a slight kick from the chili on the side. Every bite felt comforting yet rich, something I’d easily order again.

2. Nasi Lemak with Asam Prawn

The coconut rice was fragrant, the sambal was fiery and addictive, and the crispy ikan bilis with peanuts gave that perfect crunch. The asam prawn added a tangy, bold punch that really lifted the whole plate. I found myself alternating between the spicy sambal and the cooling cucumber, trying to get a bit of everything in each spoonful. It was messy, spicy, sweet, sour, crunchy everything nasi lemak should be.

3. Best Ah Ma’s Kopi

This is like Cham drink, a very popular Malaysian and Singaporean drink. The cold version was so refreshing, just the right balance of strong and slightly sweet. It’s made with strong black tea and sweetened condensed milk and coffee O, then “pulled” (poured back and forth between two cups) and create the foamy top. Flavor is creamy, sweet, slightly sweet with a rich texture.
