When I first heard about Pagi-Pagi Coffee and Eatery, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Located along the busy Jl. Mayjen HR Muhammad in West Surabaya, this cafe turned out to be a delightful surprise that quickly became one of my favorite spots for breakfast and casual hangouts.
Finding Pagi-Pagi: A Hidden Gem Above a Bike Showroom
The location itself is quite unique and initially had me a bit confused. Pagi-Pagi Coffee and Eatery sits on the first floor above Rodalink bicycle showroom at Jl. Mayjen HR Muhammad No. 28. You can access the cafe in two ways: either through the striking red staircase at the front entrance or by walking through the showroom building itself. Once I figured out where to go, the journey upstairs felt like discovering a hidden gem.
The strategic location along Jalan HR Muhammad is perfect for anyone traveling toward West Surabaya, making it an ideal pit stop whether you’re commuting to work or exploring the city.

A Cozy Atmosphere That Invites You to Stay
What immediately caught my attention was how cozy and welcoming the space felt. Pagi-Pagi offers both indoor and outdoor seating areas, catering to different preferences. The indoor area provides a comfortable, air-conditioned environment perfect for working on your laptop or having intimate conversations with friends. Meanwhile, the outdoor section faces directly onto the street, offering a pleasant view for those who enjoy people-watching while sipping their coffee.
The smoking area is thoughtfully separated in the outdoor section, ensuring everyone’s comfort. The decor strikes a nice balance between modern and casual, creating an atmosphere that feels neither too formal nor too laid-back.

What I Ordered Here
What I appreciated most about Pagi-Pagi was the combination of quality food and reasonable prices. The menu offers a diverse selection of Western and Asian-inspired dishes, alongside an impressive coffee and beverage selection.
1. Chicken Salted Egg: The Perfect Breakfast Portion
The chicken salted egg became my instant favorite. This dish features crispy fried chicken coated in a rich, creamy salted egg sauce that’s absolutely addictive. The portion size is just right—not too large, not too small—making it perfect for breakfast or a light lunch. The chicken stays crispy despite the generous coating of sauce, and the flavors are well-balanced without being overly salty. At an affordable price point, this dish offers excellent value for money.
2. Dimsum Hakau & Gyoza: The Best Seller for a Reason
According to the staff, their dimsum hakau is one of their best-selling items, and after trying it myself, I completely understand why. These delicate shrimp dumplings feature translucent wrappers that reveal the fresh shrimp filling inside. Steamed to perfection, each bite delivers a satisfying texture and clean, authentic flavors that rival dedicated dimsum restaurants. Whether you’re a dimsum enthusiast or trying it for the first time, this is definitely worth ordering.
While the Gyoza are very generous with filling it also make it the best seller snack for customer. The tase is balance and rich from their spices they used on the filling

3. Ice Americano: Smooth and Balanced
To accompany my meal, I ordered their ice americano. The coffee struck the perfect balance—not too acidic, with a smooth finish that complemented the richness of the salted egg chicken beautifully. For coffee lovers who appreciate a well-extracted brew without the bitterness, Pagi-Pagi’s americano hits all the right notes.

Convenient Hours for Early Birds and Night Owls
One of Pagi-Pagi’s biggest advantages is its operating hours. The cafe opens daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, seven days a week. This makes it incredibly convenient whether you’re looking for an early breakfast spot before work, a midday coffee break, or an evening hangout with friends. The early opening time is particularly appreciated in a city where many cafes don’t open until mid-morning.
